When hearing the word denim, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the USA and the American culture. But did you know that the word actually comes from a fabric originally made in the French city of Nîmes, called serge de Nîmes and soon shortened to “de nim”? …and that also the word “jean” has most likely French origins and it comes from Gênes, Genoa, where the first denim trousers were made? Unexpected source, as unexpected is our choice of today’s label: denim by… Gucci! Would you ever expect it?

Quando sentiamo la parola denim, la prima cosa che di solito ci viene in mente è l’America e la sua cultura, ma lo sapevate che il termine in realtà deriva da un tessuto originariamente realizzato nella città francese di Nîmes, chiamato serge de Nîmes, presto abbreviato in “de nim”? … e che anche la parola “jean” ha molto probabilmente un’origine francese e deriva da Gênes, Genova, dove furono realizzati i primi pantaloni in denim? Un’origine inattesa, come inattesa è la nostra scelta del marchio odierno: denim … by Gucci! Ve lo sareste mai aspettato?
