A stroll in the deep dark wood
“A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood. A fox saw the mouse, and the mouse looked good.”
This is the beginning of one of our favourite bed time stories and this is the spirit with which, on Saturday morning, we set off for the woods surrounding our mountain house.
Actually, we wanted to go playing with the snow, but since this year it’s hard to find, we opted for a walk in the wood looking for Fox, Owl, Snake and obviously Gruffalo. Despite the magic lantern which showed us the path and enlightened our way, this time we could not find the lovely monster with purple prickles all over his back and we went back home rather disappointed. We bet next time we will be luckier!
“The Gruffalo” is one of the many books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler that fills with delight and wonder our precious moments before going to bed and gives us sweet dreams for the rest of the night.

“Un topolino faceva una passeggiata nella foresta buia e profonda. Una volpe vide il topolino e gli sembrò delizioso.” Questo è l’inizio di uno dei nostri racconti della buona notte preferiti ed è con lo spirito di questo racconto che sabato mattina siamo partite alla volta dei boschi circostanti la nostra casa di montagna.
In realtà, saremmo volute andare a giocare con la neve, ma visto che quest’anno si fa decisamente desiderare, abbiamo optato per una passeggiata alla ricerca della volpe, della civetta, del serpente e ovviamente del gruffalo. Nonostante la lanterna magica che ci mostrava la via e che illuminava il nostro cammino non siamo riuscite a trovare il tenero mostro con il dorso ricoperto da aculei viola e siamo tornate a casa un po’ insoddisfatte. Ma siamo sin d’ora pronte a scommettere che la prossima avremo maggior fortuna.
“Il Gruffalo” è uno dei tanti libri di Julia Donaldson e Axel Scheffler che riempie di gioia e meraviglia i nostri preziosi momenti prima di andare a letto e ci dona sogni d’oro per tutta la notte.
