Playing with grandma’s nativity scene

And so the Christmas holidays have eventually arrived and on Saturday afternoon we left Milan for the mountains and grandma’s. We often write about the love that we feel for our hometown and the feelings that keep us tied to it, which, as you can image, get even stronger during this time of the year.
We spent the two days before Christmas buying last-minute presents and finishing the wrappings as well as meeting our dearest who we hadn’t seen for a while. So, the day before Christmas there was little left to do and we could enjoy a nice walk around our little town and relax in grandma’s garden playing with her crib.
Although for some families the crib has been completely replaces by the Christmas tree for us, and grandma in particular, is still a beloved Christmas tradition and we gradually add the figures in the nativity set according to the historical Christmas story. Alice has discovered it this year for the first time and as you can see, she loved it very much as well!

E così le vacanze di Natale sono finalmente arrivate e sabato pomeriggio abbiamo lasciato Milano per la montagna e la casa della nonna. Vi parliamo spesso dell’amore che proviamo per il nostro paese natio e dei sentimenti che ci tengono legati ad esso che, come si può facilmente immaginare, diventano ancora più forti in questo periodo dell’anno.
Abbiamo trascorso i due giorni prima di Natale acquistando gli ultimi regali e finendo di impacchettarli, oltre che andando a trovare i nostri cari che non vedevamo da un po’. Così, la vigilia di Natale c’era rimasto poco da fare e abbiamo potuto goderci una bella passeggiata in paese e rilassarci nel giardino della nonna giocando con il suo presepe.
Anche se per alcune famiglie il presepe è stato completamente sostituito dall’albero di Natale, per noi, e per la nonna in particolare, è ancora una tradizione natalizia molto amata e aggiungiamo ancora gradualmente le figure secondo il racconto storico di Natale. Alice lo ha scoperto quest’anno per la prima volta e come potete vedere ne è rimasta conquistata anche lei!
