Simonetta winter 2015 in silver and skyblue
It’s been ages, we know, but among things at work, Christmas presents, and shooting of this year Milan shopping window tour (have a look at last year here), we didn’t have time for editing and posting!
As per the family tradition, on December 8, during the weekend of Sant’Ambrogio, we’ve put up our Christmas tree. While browsing around on the web, we’ve found some peculiar facts about putting up Christmas trees! Originally they were not put up until Christmas Eve and then taken down the day after Twelfth Night. Having a tree up before or after these dates was considered bad luck. Nowadays in some countries they put them up at the beginning of November and in some other just the day before Christmas. So, we ended up with the idea that there is no real rule except the one you grew up with.
This year we have chosen silver and sky-blue Christmas decorations, mixing classical baubles, with glass baubles filled in with sky-blue feathers or little stars, as well as more sophisticated shapes in blue shades. We have chosen this colours combination in honour of a very special guest… guess who it is!
E’ passato un sacco di tempo, lo sappiamo, ma tra chiudere le cose al lavoro, scegliere i regali di Natale, e realizzare il nostro abituale tour del quadrilatero di Milano (date un’occhiata a quello dello scorso anno qui), non abbiamo avuto il tempo per un nuovo post!
Come da tradizione di famiglia, l’8 dicembre, durante il fine settimana di Sant’Ambrogio, abbiamo preparato l’albero di Natale. Mentre curiosavamo online, abbiamo scoperto alcuni fatti singolari sulla preparazione degli alberi di Natale! In origine erano decorati solo la vigilia di Natale e poi tolti dopo dodici giorni. Si pensava che avere un albero di Natale prima o dopo queste date portasse sfortuna. Oggi, in alcuni paesi lo preparano già ad inizio di novembre, mentre in altri solo il giorno prima di Natale. Alla fine siamo giunte alla conclusione che non esiste una vera e propria regola, tranne quella con cui siamo cresciuti.
Quest’anno abbiamo scelto delle decorazioni natalizie argento ed azzurro, mescolando palline classiche in tinta unita, con palline di vetro contenenti piume celesti o stelline e forme più sofisticate nei toni del blu. Abbiamo scelto questa combinazione cromatica in onore di un ospite molto speciale … indovinate chi è!
