Sarabanda spring summer 2016 romantic outfit to discover the columns of San Lorenzo.
If you follow us on our socials, you know that yesterday we started our summer holidays! Yippee! We left Milan in the early afternoon and caught a plane toward our final destination. The girls were so excited to fly again and they enjoyed it very much!
Now mum is writing from an in-transit location, while Anna and Alice are pretending to watch cartoons in bed (but actually fighting each other). We are completely jet lagged, wide-awake at 3 o’clock in the morning. Therefore, you will understand if we keep this post shorter than usual!
As our regular readers know, during the weekends we spend in Milan, we love to go around and visit the oldest and historical places of the city. On one of such weekends, we went in the area of porta Ticinese to see the columns of San Lorenzo. Located in front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the columns are prominent Roman ruins, that were moved here after removal from a likely 2nd century pagan temple. The girls had a good time running in the area in front of the Basilica and playing hide and seek behind the columns. Then, we had an aperitif in the surrounding area and spent some time in the park close to the church.
Se ci seguite sui nostri canali social, sapete che ieri sono finalmente iniziate le nostre vacanze estive! Evviva! Abbiamo lasciato Milano nel primo pomeriggio e preso un aereo verso la nostra destinazione finale. Le bimbe erano elettrizzate all’idea di volare di nuovo e si sono divertite un sacco!
Ora, la mamma sta scrivendo da un posto di passaggio, in attesa di prendere il volo finale, mentre Anna e Alice stanno fingendo di guardare i cartoni animati nel lettone (ma in realtà si stanno facendo i dispetti). Siamo completamente provate dal fuso, sveglissime alle 3 del mattino. Così, capirete se terremo questo post più breve del solito!
Come i nostri lettori abituali sanno, durante i fine settimana che trascorriamo a Milano, ci piace molto andare in giro e visitare i luoghi più antichi e storici della città. In uno di questi fine settimana, siamo andate nella zona di Porta Ticinese per vedere le colonne di San Lorenzo. Situate di fronte alla Basilica di San Lorenzo, le colonne sono importanti rovine romane, trasportate qui dopo la rimozione da un probabile tempio pagano del II secolo. Le bimbe si sono divertite a correre nella zona di fronte alla Basilica e a giocare nascondino dietro le colonne. Poi, abbiamo preso un aperitivo nella zona circostante e trascorso un po’ di tempo nel parco vicino alla chiesa.
