Baja California San Francisco Javier Mission in the beautiful scenario of Sierra della Giganta
In less than one hour, mum will go next door and kiss the girls good morning. In the end, the day has come, and today Anna will go back to school. Mum can’t believe how the time is passing by and that today she will begin her second year of elementary school. Last night we checked all needed and everything is ready: backpack, books, cases, uniform and… our back to school selection! Yes, our back to school selection! If you follow us on our socials, you know that we are ready with some back to school suggestions… but not today (BTW, here in Milan is so hot that we will use a comfy dress coming from our summer closet).
Instead, today we want to share another piece of our summer holiday in Baja California. The second day in Loreto area, we left Loreto Bay early in the morning, and headed up into the mountain of Sierra della Giganta, where Francisco Javier Mission is. The mission was founded by the Jesuits in 1699 with the objective to convert the local Indians to Christianity, and closed in 1817. However, the church survives and it is still in use. Hope you enjoy it.

In meno di un’ora, la mamma andrà nella stanza accanto per svegliare le bimbe con un sacco di baci. Alla fine, il giorno è arrivato, e oggi Anna tornerà a scuola. La mamma non riesce a credere come il tempo passi velocemente e che oggi inizi il secondo anno di scuola elementare.
Ieri sera abbiamo controllato tutto l’occorrente e possiamo dire di essere pronte: zaino, libri, astucci, uniforme e… le nostre proposte per il rientro a scuola! Sì, le proposte per il rientro a scuola! Se ci si seguite sui social sapete che siamo pronte con alcuni suggerimenti per la scuola… ma non oggi (a proposito, qui a Milano è così caldo che useremo un comodo abitino estivo).
Invece, oggi vogliamo condividere un altro pezzo della nostra vacanza estiva in Bassa California. Il secondo giorno nella zona di Loreto, abbiamo lasciato Loreto Bay la mattina presto, e ci siamo dirette tra le montagne della Sierra della Giganta, dove si trova la missione Francisco Javier. La missione è stata fondata dai gesuiti nel 1699 con l’obiettivo di convertire gli indiani locali al cristianesimo, ed è stata chiusa nel 1817. Tuttavia la chiesa è sopravvissuta e viene ancora utilizzata per celebrare la messa. Speriamo vi piaccia.
