DIY Halloween kids costumes the wolf: tutorial on how to make this costume

Halloween is just around the corner and, as per our tradition (see also here), we’ve decided to celebrate it with a series of DIY Halloween kids costumes.
The girls particularly liked last year series inspired by the presence of a human character and his/her animal companion, so we decided to carry on with it.
If you follow us on socials, you already know that the first animal of this year is the wolf. This makes it extremely easy to guess the first couple: “little red riding hood and the big bad wolf”.
So, here’s the tutorial for this DIY Halloween kids costumes the wolf (actualy not only for kids, since it can be easily adapted to adults). Soon on the blog, the final result together with the sweet little red riding hood.

Halloween è ormai dietro l’angolo e, come da nostra tradizione (vedete anche qui), abbiamo deciso di festeggiare con una serie di costumi di Halloween “fai da te” per bambini.
Alle bimbe è piaciuta in modo particolarmente la serie dello scorso anno ispirata dalla presenza di un personaggio umano e del suo compagno animale, così abbiamo deciso di proseguirla.
Se ci seguite sui social, sapete già che il primo animale di quest’anno è il lupo. Cosa che rende estremamente facile indovinare la prima coppia: “Cappuccetto Rosso e il lupo”.
Ecco quindi il tutorial per la preparazione del costume da lupo “fai da te” per bambini (…e non solo, crediamo possa essere facilmente adattato anche ad un adulto). Presto sul blog il risultato finale insieme ad una dolcissima Cappuccetto Rosso.

Materials needed: grey furry stuff, black turtle neck and leggings – as per our tradition we have bought ours from H&M. Occorrente: stoffa simil pelliccia di colore grigio, dolcevita e leggings neri – come da tradizione noi li abbiamo comprati da H&M

The first steps of the tutorials are making the trousers and the blouse! I primi passi del tutorial consistono nel realizzare i calzoni e la maglia!

Step 1: Make the trousers. Measure your kids calf and cut the furry feather accordingly so to make the leg warmers. Hand stitch the fur into circles on the leggings. Hint: to minimise fur fraying, cut the fur on the reverse with a cutter rather than scissors. Passo 1: Realizzate i calzoni. Prendete le misure dei polpacci del vostro bimbo e tagliare la pelliccia per fare gli scaldamuscoli. Suggerimento: per ridurre al minimo lo sfilacciamento della pelliccia, tagliatela sul retro con un taglierino, piuttosto che con le forbici.

Step 3: Make the blouse. Measure your kid wrists, then cut and stitch the furry feather similarly to what it has been done for the trousers. Passo 3: Realizzate la maglia. Misurate i polsi del vostro bimbo, quindi tagliare e cucite la pelliccia analogamente a quanto fatto per i pantaloni.

Here is the result of the first two steps. Attention: remember to measure the calfs and the wrists of your kid and cut the fur accordingly. Do not use the measures of the clothes otherwise the fur might not perfectly cover the tissue when worn. Eccovi il risultato dei primi due passi. Attenzione: ricordatevi di misurare i polpacci e i polsi del vostro bambino e di tagliare la pelliccia di conseguenza. Non usate le misure dei capi altrimenti il pelo potrebbe non coprire perfettamente il tessuto quando indossato.

Step 4: Make the tail. Cut a long piece of fur and stitch it to make a fur tube. Passo 4: Realizzare la coda. Tagliate un lungo pezzo di tessuto e cucitelo realizzando un tubo di pelliccia.

Step 5: Make the hat. Measure your kid head, then cut and stitch the furry feather similarly to what it has been done for the other parts of the costume. Passo 5: Realizzate il copricapo. Misurate la testa del vostro bimbo, quindi tagliare e cucite la pelliccia analogamente a quanto fatto per le altre parti del costume.
