Quis Quis blue dress discovering Hotel del Coronado during our summer holidays. Perfect for the festive season!
One of the places mum was absolutely determined to see during our summer holiday in San Diego is Coronado Island.
Located in front of San Diego, across and around San Diego Bay, Coronado Island has one of the best beaches in the area, a variety of elegant and sophisticated shops, and highly rated restaurants that provide a wide range of cuisine choices.
But these were not the (only) reasons behind mum’s will to spend a day there. The real reason is she wanted to see Hotel del Coronado, the place where “Someone Likes It Hot” was filmed.
Starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, and Tony Curtis, Some Like It Hot, filmed in 1959, is mum’s favourite old comedy. We could visit the large hall with the historical reception, the inner shop celebrating the movie, and we spent some time in the lovely garden. Then we moved to the beach where we spent the rest of the afternoon.
We thought that for such a special place this Quis Quis blue dress was perfect. And now looking at the contrasting effect of the blue with the white of structure and with the colours of the place it looks like a good choice. What do you think? Do you like it?
Uno dei posti che la mamma era assolutamente determinata a visitare durante la nostra vacanza estiva nella zona di San Diego é l’isola di Coronado.
Situata di fronte a San Diego, nell’omonima baia, l’isola di Coronado vanta una delle più belle spiagge della zona, una varietà di eleganti e sofisticati negozi, e numerosi ristoranti molto apprezzati che offrono una vasta gamma di scelte culinarie.
Ma queste non sono le (uniche) ragioni che hanno spinto la mamma a voler trascorrere una giornata a Coronado. La vera ragione per cui ci voleva andare è l’Hotel del Coronado, il posto dove nel 1958 hanno girato il film “A qualcuno piace caldo”. Protagonisti Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon e Tony Curtis, “A qualcuno piace caldo” è la commedia preferita della mamma.
Arrivati all’hotel (per una parte quasi un museo) abbiamo potuto visitare l’ampio ingresso con la storica reception, il negozio interno che celebra il film, per poi trascorrere un po’ di tempo nel bel giardino interno. Ci siamo infine spostate sulla spiaggia dove abbiamo trascorso tutto il pomeriggio.
Abbiamo pensato che per un luogo così speciale fosse perfetto questo romantico abitino blu di Quis Quis. Guardano ora l’effetto a contrasto con il bianco della struttura e i colori del luogo crediamo sia stato un abbinamento ben riuscito. Cosa ne dite? Vi piace?
