Around Palazzo Madama Turin between Italian history and ancient art
A visit to Palazzo Madama Turin, is a unique way of travelling through time and art! This striking building, in fact, not only boasts a long and glorious history, but it also houses the collections of the Museo Civico d’Arte Antica, Turin’s municipal museum of ancient art.
The visit starts in the basement, down by the Roman foundations, where you can admire the medieval stonework collection, with stone sculptures and jewellery. From here, you can also access the beautiful Medieval Garden. The ground floor is devoted to the fifteenth-century castle, and to the art of the Middle Ages and of the Renaissance. On the first floor are the baroque rooms, with the art of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. On the second and last floor, you can see the decorative arts of all ages.
It is between the ground and the first floor, next to the majestic staircase in baroque style realised by Filippo Juvarra, that we took the pictures that you see in this blog post.
At this stage, if you are planning to vist Palazzo Madama Turin, you must know that it is open every day from 10am to 6pm, apart from Tuesdays, when it is closed. Entrance fee is 10.00€, reduced rates are available, while admission is free for minors (under 18). Nonetheless, we suggest to double check the news section of the site. Visitare Palazzo Madama a Torino è un meraviglioso viaggio nel tempo e nell’arte! Questo straordinario edificio, infatti, non solo vanta una storia secolare e gloriosa, ma ospita anche le collezioni del Museo Civico d’Arte Antica della città.
La visita inizia al piano interrato, con le fondamenta romane, dove si possono ammirare le collezioni del Medioevo, con sculture in pietra e gioielli e da cui si può accedere al bellissimo Giardino Medievale. Il piano terra è dedicato al castello medioevale, con le arti dal Gotico al Rinascimento. Al primo piano si trovano le sale barocche, che ospitano le arti dei secoli XVII e XVIII, mentre al secondo ed ultimo piano è possibile ammirare le arti decorative di tutte le epoche.
É proprio tra il piano terra ed il primo piano, accanto alla maestosa scalinata in stile barocco realizzata da Filippo Juvarra, che abbiamo scattato le foto che vedete in questo post.
A questo punto, se state progettando una visita a Palazzo Madama, dovete sapere che è aperto tutti i giorni, dalle 10:00 alle 18:00 tranne il martedì. Il biglietto d’ingresso costa 10,00 €, ci sono tariffe ridotte, mentre l’ingresso è gratuito per i minori (sotto i 18 anni). Vi consigliamo comunque di controllare anche la sezione notizie del sito.
