Reading last year posts dedicated to DIY Halloween kids costumes (see here) brought a smile to our face. Then and now we were sorry for publishing some of them in November. This year, we were iffy about doing it since it is rather late, but in the end, we did, thinking that you’ll be able to use the tutorials of the kids costumes for Carnival or play time.
We decided to carry on with our exploration of couples with a human character and his/her animal companion. The first animal of this year is a Dalmatian puppy… reason why you should expect Cruella de Vil as human character.

Rileggendo i post dello scorso anno sui costumi di Halloween “fai da te” (vedete qui) abbiamo sorriso scoprendo che ci scusavamo per averne pubblicati alcuni in novembre, proprio come ora. Quest’anno siamo rimaste per un po’ in dubbio sul da farsi, ma alla fine abbiamo deciso di pubblicarli pensando che potrete utilizzare i tutorial dei costumi per Carnevale o per delle feste in maschera.
Abbiamo deciso di continuare l’esplorazione di coppie con un carattere umano e il suo compagno animale e il primo animale di quest’anno è un cucciolo dalmata. Preparatevi quindi a vedere una Crudelia de Mon come personaggio umano.
Vi lasciamo quindi al tutorial per la preparazione del costume da bambino “fai da te” di cane dalmata nella speranza che, prima o poi, vi divertirete a seguirlo. Presto sul blog, il risultato finale insieme alla cattivissima Crudelia.

Costume di Halloween "fai da te" per bambini da cane dalmata. Seguite il nostro tutorial per realizzare questo costume per bambini che può essere facilmente adattato agli adulti.

Materials needed: black and white dalmatian furry stuff, elastics, an old hairband and some wire. If you want to create also a costume for Cruella, add red lining.
Occorrente: stoffa simil pelliccia bianca e nera tipo pelo dalmata, un pezzo di elastico alto, un vecchio cerchietto e del filo di ferro. Se volete realizzare anche un costume per Crudelia aggiungete della fodera rossa.

Step 1: Create the jacket. Using one of your kid's gymsuit or pj jacket, create a paper pattern and cut the black and white dalmatian fur accordingly. Then, sew all the pieces together. Hint: to minimise fur fraying, cut the fur on the reverse with a cutter rather than scissors.
Passo 2: Realizzare la giacca. Utilizzando una giacca della tuta da ginnastica o del pigiama del vostro bimbo, create un cartamodello e con esso tagliate tutte le parti della giacca. Infine cucitele insieme. Noi abbiamo usato la macchina da cucire. Suggerimento: per ridurre al minimo lo sfilacciamento della pelliccia, tagliatela sul retro con un taglierino, piuttosto che con le forbici.

Step 1: Create the jacket. We kept it intentially very basic, but if you want to make it more sophisticated, you can add lining and invisible bottons.
Passo 2: Realizzare la giacca. Abbiamo volontariamente lasciato la giacca piuttosto spartana, ma se volete rifinirla meglio e renderla più sofisticata potete foderarla ed aggiungere dei bottoni invisibili.

Step 2: Create the trousers. Using sing a pair of your kids' leggings create a paper pattern and use it to cut the black and white dalmatian fur. Then sew them and add the elastic at the waist
Passo 2: Realizzare i calzoni. Utilizzando un paio di leggings del vostro bimbo, create un cartamodello e con esso ritagliate i due lati dei calzoni nella pelliccia dalmata. Infine cuciteli insieme facendo attenzione a lasciare le cuciture nella parte interna e aggiungete l'elastico in vita.

Step 3: Create the ears. Using the paper pattern, cut four pieces of black and white dalmatian furry stuff. Sew them together so to obtain the two ears.
Passo 3: Realizzare le orecchie. Utilizzando un cartamodello, tagliate quattro pezzi di pelliccia bianca e nera. Cuciteli insieme a due a due, in modo tale da ottenere le due orecchie.

Step 4: Create the headband. Using the wire, create a structure with two ears and cover them with the pieces previously prepared. Fully cover the headband with a stripe of black and white dalmatian furry stuff.
Passo 4: Realizzare il copricapo. Utilizzando il filo di ferro, create una struttura con due orecchie e copritele con i pezzi di pelliccia preparati in precedenza. Coprite completamente il cerchietto con una striscia di tessuto dalmata.
