Easter special for kids despite coronavirus

How to keep Easter special for kids despite coronavirus and have fun all together

Tomorrow it will be Easter Sunday, and this year it will surely be different than we’ve seen before.
With bans on large gatherings and stay-at-home orders, families likely won’t be gathering together or attending church services. Nonetheless, we believe that people will still celebrate the Easter holiday despite the outbreak and buy (mainly online) Easter goodies, treats and decorations especially for kids.
Above all, we think it will be important to keep Easter special for our kids amid the COIVd-9. They deserve it after all this time in quarantine (for us this is day 48), they need it to keep their morale up and they have to be rewarded for the sacrifice they are doing together with us.

So, what can we do to keep Easter special for kids despite coronavirus?

Here are a few tips:
1 – Hold virtual get-togethers
We call ourselves lucky, since we’ve been quarantined with our extended family (grandparents and cousins) since the very beginning. If you’re away from your friends and family, try organizing a Zoom call together. These days Anna and Alice have done so with their classmates and got very excited!
2 – Cook a dish for Easter with your kids
Cooking is one of the activities we’ve enjoyed the most these days (we’ll share some pics very soon) and we can dare saying that by now we have baked almost everything. You can bake with your kids a cake or their favourite sweet for Easter and eat it all together the day after, praising them for the good job done!
3 – Let the kids decorate the house for Easter
Easter may be time to loosen the household rules a bit and let our kids be creative. We can let them decorate our house for Easter, with handmade decorations or whatever they can put together.
4 – Get creative with egg hunts
Unlike past Easters, we won’t be able to hold large egg hunts with groups of children. We’ll have to get creative and find indoor places to hide the Easter eggs. In addition, if your kids believe in the Easter bunny and they have been asking if he will still be coming to your house, you can write with them a special letter.
5 – Focus more on activities to do with kids
Finally, you should organise some Easter crafts activities to do together. Among them, the one that we like the most is dyeing Easter eggs (see here how to do it). In the pictures below taken by Ariana who is currently quarantined in Turin you can see Emma having a great time dyeing her eggs. And once done you can use them as a place holder for your Easter table!

What do you think? In the end, different does not necessary mean less special! Happy Easter everyone xxx
