Blossoming Beauty Kids Fashion Editorial
How do you organize a Kids Fashion Editorial shoot?
Today we are happy to present “Blooming Beauty” our latest Kids Fashion Editorial realised in collaboration with Ariana Currò. And since we have received various requests on how we organise our kids fashion photoshoots, we thought to give some tips on how they come together?
Step 01: the idea
It all starts with an idea, a “fashion” idea in this case. Based on it, a story is built: a look, a feel, an atmosphere, and the feelings you want to achieve. We usually try and come up with a name, a title for the fashion story, because it helps stick to people mind and contribute to the allure of the editorial. “Blooming Beauty” was born out of the idea to represent the colours of a flowers, but not scattered and mixed together, rather a colour for each flower paying homage to it.
Step 02: the mood-board
To create our mood-boards, we traditionally use Pinterest, where we search for inspiration and we save the photos that we prefer on a (secret) board that we share with the photographer. On it, we exchange views and opinions. Our suggestion is to search as much as possible because the more images you find, the more inspired you will be, and the closer you will be to collecting a clearer idea of what you want to achieve. For “Blooming Beauty” we have identified around a hundred images, but we managed to focus what we wanted to achieve with the last ones.
Step 03: the team
From our experience this is the easiest part because, right or wrong, we tend to work almost always with the same consolidate team. That said, what you need, in addition to the producer and the photographer, is a clothes stylist specialized in kids fashion (which in our case is ourselves!), a Make Up Artist (I.e. MUA) who takes care of the make-up, and a hair stylist. Once identified, all the team members should have access to the mood-board link to be as invested in the idea as you are.
Step 04: the kids models
Agency models is really where you should be because they know what they’re doing, and this is even truer at the time of COVID! It’s a good idea to send them the mood-board too, along with a clear idea of the type of models you are looking for. Sizes, attitude and aesthetic qualities to match the needs of the editorial. We have a network of professional and trusted agencies that we leverage on for our shootings, so also this point is usually not a big deal.
For “Blooming Beauty”, in order of appearance: Nicole is the peach carnation and wears a Repose AMS dress; Micol is the pink tulip and wears a dress by Alitsa, Giulia is the red rose and wears a dress by Simonetta, Alice is the lavender flower of ornamental garlic and wears an Elisabetta Franchi la mia bambina onesie. Giulia is with Moda Modà while Micol and Nicole with Pepper Kids.

Step 05: the location
This is a very important point, because locations tell stories on their own and they have to be consistent with the editorial. We usually go and see the location once or twice before the shooting date to study the light and to define which situation and outfits we will shoot where. For this editorial we chose the gorgeous Palazzo Arese Borromeo located in Cesano Maderno.

Step 06: the date
It is important to organize the editorial on a date and time that everyone can do. To be well prepared, we usually create a call sheet, which is a formal chart in which we provide all the details and the contacts and share it with the team well in advance.
Step 07: the shoot
So, at this point, everyone is with you in one place and ready to shoot! Our advice is to keep the mood-board out and about, in everyone’s faces including your own, to keep up the theme of the day and… not forget to enjoy!
