Met Gala 2022 Kids Dresses Inspiration for girls… although we will not see any under-18 to the incredible fashion event

A few hours before the Met Gala 2022 which will be staged at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, on our kids’ fashion blog we celebrate the most fashionable event of the year. We do so with a gallery of five dresses we would have choose if we had to style a girl for the event.

Met Gala 2022 celebrates the second volume in a two-part Costume Institute exhibition dedicated to American fashion. The first, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, opened on 18 September 2021, while the second, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” will open to the public on May 7 after this evening Gala event. Traditionally, the theme of the exhibition is reflected in the dress code of the opening night. The latter has been summarized on the coveted invitations as “gilded glamour, white tie”

The historical reference is to the Gilded Age, the period that goes from 1870 to the beginning of 1900, which arose from the golden age that saw great prosperity especially in the United States. This is the period that inspired Edith Wharton’s novels also brought to the screen: “The Age of Innocence” and “The House of Joy”. If these are the premises on the red carpet tonight, we can expect a lot of lace, tulle, velvet and ruffles, but also a lot of gold glitz (see here for girls gold dresses).

Unfortunately, we will not be able to see the “kids fashion” interpretation of “gilded glamour, white tie” dress code on the red carpet, the reason being kids are not allowed at the Met. In 2018, the Met Gala had decreed a new age restriction so that individuals under the age of 18 are no longer allowed to attend the event.

But since there is no limit to imagination, let’s think just for a moment that they were… well, these are five dresses that we would have chosen if we had to style a girl for the Met Gala 2022.
